Man charged over armed robbery will stay in custody
UPDATE 1.10PM: The man charged over the armed robbery of Rod's Food Market in Gladstone has been remanded in custody.
Eighteen-year-old Brendan Hayden Warwick appeared in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Monday morning, charged with one count of possessing utensils or pipes and one count of robbery with actual violence while armed.
Warwick was refused bail after police had objected. He was remanded in custody, due to reappear on June 11.
EARLIER: A man has been charged over the armed robbery of Rod's Food Market in Gladstone earlier this month.
It will be alleged the man entered the shop on Mellefont Street around 10.20pm on April 7 and threatened the attendant with a handgun, demanding cash.
An 18-year-old West Gladstone man has been charged with armed robbery.
He is expected to appear at the Gladstone Magistrates Court on Monday.
During the incident, a sole female staff member of Rod's Food Market was forced to hand over cash to the alleged thief.
Gladstone Criminal Investigation Branch detective senior sergeant Luke Peachey said at the time the violent nature of the offence was highly concerning.
