Man charged over alleged taxi driver bashing, armed robbery

A MAN will face court this morning charged with assaulting and robbing a taxi driver in Mooloolaba. 

Police said about 1.30am on Monday a Maroochydore taxi driver was parked on Walan St when the 24-year-old Mooloolaba man allegedly threw a bottle at the taxi. 

Then when the driver got out of the vehicle the man allegedly struck him in the face then continued to assault him. 

It will be further alleged the man stole cash from the driver. 

The man was charged with one count robbery with violence while armed. 

He will appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court today.
