Man charged with having explosives after using fireworks

A MAN has been charged with possessing explosives after using fireworks in the Kirkwood area on Sunday.

Gladstone police headed to the area after a complaint of fireworks being used at 5.30pm.

A 31-year-old man was charged and will face court at a later date.

In other police news, the driver of a Mazda utility involved in a single-vehicle crash on Gladstone-Monto Rd at 9.30pm on Saturday night was also found to be drink driving.

Gladstone police were unable to retrieve a blood alcohol reading off the man at the time, so a blood sample was taken.

And a unit in Edlorowa St, Sun Valley was broken into between May 2-3. The theft was reported to Gladstone police on Sunday.

A mobile phone, wallet and PS4 were stolen. Access to the unit was gained through a back door.
