Man armed with crowbar holds up Coast store

POLICE are on the hunt for a man who robbed a Coast business clad in an ice hockey mask.

The man, armed with a crowbar, forced his way into an Aroona petrol station early this morning.

At 12.20am, the man used the iron bar to force entry into the Beerburrum Road business, stealing food and cigarettes before leaving the store on foot.

The on-duty staff member barricaded himself inside a rear office during the robbery. He escaped the ordeal uninjured.

The thief is described as being aged in his early 20s.

Police investigations are continuing.
