Man allegedly produced shotgun against police during arrest

POLICE have charged a 21-year-old man with serious assault police after an alleged incident in Slacks Creek this morning.

Around 5.30am police were called to a Marsden home after the 21-year-old man allegedly made threats to the residents at the location.

Investigations led police to a Windsor Street residence in Slacks Creek where the man was located getting out of a vehicle.

Police will allege the man repeatedly failed to comply with police directions. When police attempted to detain the man he allegedly struggled and attempted to assault police.

As a result, an officer deployed his Taser, however the deployment was unsuccessful and the man allegedly produced a shotgun.

Police will allege that a struggle ensued between officers and the man who then threw the weapon into the air as police continued to struggle with him.

As the man was taken into custody he continued to resist arrest, hitting police.

The firearm was located later in two pieces.

The 21-year-old Loganlea man has been charged with one count each of possess shortened firearms, serious assault police while armed with a weapon and authority required to possess explosives.

He is scheduled to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on March 26.
