Man airlifted after New Year's Eve dumping

THE RACQ CareFlight Sunshine Coast chopper was called to Rainbow Beach on New Year's Eve, at about 2.30pm, after a male suffered suspected spinal injuries after being dumped by a large wave.

Ambulance officers treated the Hervey Bay man for possible spinal injuries before transporting him to meet the chopper.

He was airlifted to Nambour General Hospital in a stable condition.
