Man accused in Tannum Sands stabbing faces court again

A TANNUM Sands man charged with the attempted murder of a 53-year-old woman has appeared via video link for mention in Gladstone Magistrates Court.

Tyler Melbye, 23, appeared via video link on Tuesday facing several charges following the initial incident on October 26.

He faces two charges of serious assault/resist/obstruct police officer/person acting in aid of police officer caused bodily harm, one charge of assault occasioning bodily harm, one charge of attempted murder, three charges of enter premises and commit indictable offence, one charge of failing to stop a motor vehicle and one charge of stealing.

Police located Melbye in Townsville three days after the alleged stabbing occurred in Tannum Sands.

During a police interview he allegedly threw a chair at two investigators and assaulted them, giving a male detective a blood nose.

Melbye's case has been adjourned until November 27 and he has been remanded in custody in Townsville.
