Man accused of dumping six puppies on rural Qld road

A MAN who allegedly abandoned six puppies on the side of the road in north west Queensland will face court next month.

Cloncurry Stock and Rural Crime Investigation Squad detectives have issued a Notice to Appear to a 26-year-old Mt Isa man for allegedly dumping the animals on Lake Moondarra Road, Mt Isa, earlier this month.

Police will allege the puppies were first advertised on a Facebook page to give away, but when this was not successful, the man allegedly left them on a the rural roadway.

The puppies were collected by a passerby and taken to the local pound. They have since been rehomed with the assistance of the non-for-profit organisation Paws, Hoofs and Claws.

The man will appear in the Mt Isa Magistrates Court on February 1, 2016.
