WATCH: Alleged child abuser leaves court
A QUICK outfit change wasn't enough to throw waiting media off the trail of a 25-year-old man who fronted court on child abuse charges this morning.
Carey Glen Mcdowall was charged earlier this month with nine counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16 and one count each of indecent treatment of a child under 16 (indecent film), involving children in making child exploitation material, possessing child exploitative material and grooming a child under 16 with intent to procure engagement in a sexual act.
Maroochydore Child Protection Investigation Unit officers have also charged him with another count of grooming a child under 16 in the weeks since he was initially charged.
Police said the charges related to alleged offences against two teenagers at a Maroochydore youth group.
Mcdowall had been wearing a white shirt when he appeared briefly before Maroochydore Magistrates Court this morning.
Defence barrister David Crews said he received details of the charges this morning and asked for a two-week adjournment so he could have a conference with his client.
Mcdowall left Maroochydore Court House wearing a red chequered shirt and a cap.
He did not say anything to media before he and two other men were picked up in the Hungry Jacks car park by another man driving a small car.
His matters are next due for mention on April 13.
