Man, 20, charged with arson over Hervey Bay fire

POLICE have charged a 20-year-old man following investigations into a unit fire at Scarness, Hervey Bay on Wednesday night.

Around 9.10pm, police were called to the East Street address where the found the unit well alight.

The fire was extinguished, and the unit sustained extensive damage.

No one was injured as a result of the incident.

The 20-year-old local man has been charged with one count of arson and is expected to appear in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on Thursday.
