Maddy relishing leadership

NEWLY-appointed Port City Power women's captain Maddy Willey, 21, is not placing any expectations ahead of the grand final re-match against Rockhampton Cyclones tonight.

She is one of several young Power players expected to step up in the heat of battle during the QBL season.

"I obviously want to improve on last year and want to take more of a leadership role," Willey said.

While the side has not had any preseason games as such, Willey said the team has had practice games.

"We have scrimmaged a lot at training and also a lot of us young girls have played in the CDC competitions which have been good preparation," Willey said.

She added the addition of Markel Walker would boost the team.
