Loss of ducks is 'heart-wrenching' for residents

DELIVERY driver Erin Doyle has been working the Forest Glen area for two years.

She says the loss of the ducks has changed the identity of the community.

"It feels different not looking out for all those little faces who just want some love and attention," Ms Doyle said.

"I watched them struggle to lay a clutch of eggs and then when they finally did I watched those chicks grow."

Should the council have removed the ducks?

This poll ended on 03 July 2015.

Current Results

Yes, they were traffic hazards

9%

This is not a scientific poll. The results reflect only the opinions of those who chose to participate.

Another resident, who asked not to be named, said he thought the council had handled the situation well enough, but didn't have to remove all the ducks.

"There were quite a few so it was getting a bit out of control," the resident said.

"But I would have expected them to leave a couple behind. We all loved the ducks."

Another resident, who also did not want to be named for fear of backlash, said the news was "heart-wrenching".

"As soon as I got the letter I ran outside and saw they were gone. I just broke down crying," she said.
