JO HARDMAN didn't catch too many fish at The Observer Boyne Tannum HookUp, but it turned out to be the best fishing trip of his life.

"I caught the big one at long last," he said.

Mr Hardman won the prize everyone had been eyeing off all weekend: the Quintrex 610 Spirit.

He looked slightly stunned when he walked to the stage, but Mr Hardman had a grin as big as his new boat when he set sights on the prize.

Mr Hardman joked that he hadn't even registered a fish for the weekend. All he really had was a ticket - a very lucky ticket.

This beauty of a fishing boat couldn't have gone to a more deserving fisho.

Mr Hardman is everything we love about HookUp.

He is part of the Sunshine Coast Sports Fishing Club, a family-oriented fishing club that made the trip to Boyne-Tannum just to soak up the atmosphere.

Will he be back next year? Absolutely.
