Logan pair charged with Sunshine Coast theft, fraud

SUNSHINE Coast detectives had charged a man and woman from Logan with almost 40 theft and fraud offences across the region.

Officers from the Crime Investigation Branch and the Property Crime Taskforce executed search warrants at two Logan addresses, where they recovered several items of property alleged to have been stolen from vehicles parked at Maleny, Mapleton, The Glasshouse Mountains and Wild Horse Mountain car parks.

It will be alleged that over the past month, the two people smashed the windows of 10 vehicles that were parked in popular tourist spots and removed personal property, including mobile telephones, wallets and handbags.

Police will further allege that they then used stolen credit cards found in the stolen property to commit fraud offences.

A 49-year-old Logan Central woman has been charged with 10 counts of enter premises and commit indictable offence, six counts of fraud, three counts of attempted fraud and one count of receiving tainted property.

A 59-year-old Logan Central man has been charged with 10 counts of enter premises and commit indictable offence, sis counts of fraud and three counts of attempted fraud.

They are both scheduled to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on November 12.

Police would like to remind motorists that if valuables must be left in a vehicle, keep them out of sight and to report any suspicious behavior in car parks, or around parked vehicles to Crime Stoppers or Policelink.
