Lodge goes solar
THE switch has been turned on with the official unveiling of new solar panels at Bindaree Lodge.
The organisation received a $50,000 grant from QGC's Sustainable Communities Fund to install the panels.
Bindaree lodge chairwoman Christine Bailey said the funding would greatly improve the 40-bed aged care facility.
"Bindaree lodge is a not-for-profit organisation and this is a tremendous financial boost to help us cut down on electricity costs at our Boyne Island aged care facility," she said.
The project cost a total of $134,000.
Bindaree Lodge was one of eight organisations to receive part of the $308,000 available in this round of the fund.
