Local media face-off for challenge
GLADSTONE media networks are becoming agitated in anticipation of the Gladstone Ports Corporation’s (GPC) Botanic to Bridge fun run media challenge.
From families to schools, businesses and community groups, thousands of entrants are preparing their calf muscles for this inaugural event.
Front man for Zinc Radio, Rob Kidd, believes the run is simple and one where The Observer entrants will be left behind.
“I run 5km every week with the Road Runners Club down at the Marina for a bit of fun and to get the blood going,” Mr Kidd said.
“Zinc is just in it for fun, but I’m sure we will give each other a nudge into the gutter.”
Observer editor Meredith Papavasiliou said the Observer isn’t in it for running, but rather to be a part of a community event.
“I guess Zinc Radio and the Observer have had a history of media challenges, but we won’t look at the past, only the future,” Ms Papavasiliou said.
Lee McIvor, from the GPC said it’s great to see media partners embracing the challenges of competing in a fun event such as the inaugural Botanic to Bridge.
“There are plenty of opportunities for not only our media partners but also our fellow industries and businesses,” Ms McIvor said.
