BOYNE Island Library has been recognised for its welcoming environment and valuable services by being nominated in Australia's Favourite Library Competition.

The competition is being held in conjunction with the Australian Library and Information Association's annual Library Week promotion.

A local couple, who are library members, submitted the nomination. They had moved to Boyne Island from the US and were searching for jobs.

The entry reads: "At the Boyne Island Library, they welcomed us with a smile and even remembered our names!

"They gave us time on the computer in the library and helped us settle into the area.

"Now, three years later, we both enjoy going to the library and always have a quick chat with the friendly and helpful staff there."

Libraries from all around Australia have entered, so vote now to ensure one of our region's libraries is the winner.
