LETTER: 5 changes should be made to 1m cycling law

THIS so called one metre law for push bikes is all for the rider.

Something has to be done about the following:

1.They must carry third party insurance in case of accidents;

2. Riders should have to pay nominal rego for use of the roads;

3. Riders should have to go to single file in busy road conditions;

4. Riders should have to display an ID plate on the rear of their bikes, for when they break the law (which is very often);

5. Riders must always display rear and front lights after dark.

Most of the above are standard laws for any vehicle using Queensland roads.
