Letter: Speed limits in Gladstone don't make sense

Letter to the editor from Herb Linwood, Gladstone

SPEED limits in town are a joke. You have the likes of Auckland St bought down to 50kmh, why?

So far as I know it has had very few accidents.

A lot of people call it speed-camera alley.

>> Deputy mayor calls for review of speed limits

You have other streets that have had a fatality and up to between five to seven accidents a year (lots are not recorded by police).

Rafferty's rules apply like telling some mob they can unload heavy equipment on the road at an intersection and stop sign with no traffic control.

By the way, there was a head-on at this intersection while this was going on and it was reported to the authorities.

No report in the local about this.

I say get into it (deputy mayor) Matty - your ideas about speed changes are great.

Also, when permits are handed out for the likes of the job above, don't forget about it.

Check that all conditions are carried out.
