Letter: Looking forward to end of coal dust at Barney Pt

Letter to the editor from Allan Jeffrey, Gladstone:

TWO of the most important events in the history of Gladstone are happening next year.

Barney Point Coal Terminal will close.

This not only means a reprieve from constant coal dust from here, but also from the trains which traverse the entire eastern side of the city.

We will again be able to open the windows.

The other event is a council election.

The only blight on the livability of the city after this is the persistent stink and fallout from QAL.

After more than 45 years of operation this dinosaur still treats the city with contempt.
