LETTER: Cancer Council thanks residents for Relaying

On behalf of Cancer Council Queensland, thank you to the people of Gladstone for their support of Relay For Life at the weekend.

The event was a tremendous success.

More than $88,300 was raised by 74 teams and 700 participants who took to the track to help us fight back against cancer.

The funding will go towards life-saving research, programs, and support for those affected.

This includes about 1100 people in the Central Queensland region who will be diagnosed with cancer this year.

We take this opportunity to acknowledge the tireless enthusiasm of the local Relay For Life Committee, who volunteer their time to champion our cause for the community.

Because of Relay we are one step closer to a cancer free future.

Thank you once again!

- Cancer Council Queensland CEO Prof Jeff Dunn AO
