Let the dirt fly

WET weather and a busy schedule meant that Gladstone Dirtriders Club had to cancel its monthly club meet.

But a fortunate turn of events has seen the much-anticipated event rescheduled for this weekend.

Julie Maeyke from Gladstone Dirtriders said the club was committed to the Central Queensland Motocross Championships in Rockhampton and had to cancel the club meet altogether.

When the Central Queensland was postponed until August 11-12 she said the club jumped at the chance to reschedule the club championships with more than 100 riders expected to attend.

Hayden Brown and Prue Maeyke are two Gladstone riders happy to get a run on their home track this weekend.

Both riders were geared up for the final round of the Central Queensland Motocross Championships at Six Mile Raceway with Brown leading the Clubman Lites Class and Maeyke leading the Ladies Class.

Racing starts from 9am for all classes from 50cc Auto Demo class through to all Senior classes.
