Christmas festivities begin with Calliope carols

ABOUT 4000 people enjoyed the Christmas spirit last night at the second Calliope Community Carols event.

There were live animals, activities, craft, food stalls and plenty of music for the crowd to enjoy on the grass at Calliope Rodeo Grounds.

Calliope State School children impressed their family members, singing an array of carols

Santa even made an appearance on his sleigh.

Bonita and Edwin Farmer watched their 11-year-old grandson sing from the audience.

"It was lovely," Mrs Farmer said.

Annabelle Bailey, 6, said Christmas was the best time of the year. "I like when we decorate the tree," she said.

The money raised from the carols will go towards the Breaky Club.
