Leslie Dam NYE campers witness glassing

A YOUNG man has received serious facial injuries after being glassed at Leslie Dam yesterday morning.

The incident happened shortly after 1am near Washpool Camping Reserve.

It's alleged the 26-year-old man was having an argument with another man when a 25-year-old female allegedly struck the man from behind with a solid glass mug.

At the time of printing last night the woman was still at large with a warrant out for her arrest.

Warwick Criminal Investigation Branch Detective Senior Constable Ryan Harmer said police knew the identity of the woman.

"Unfortunately she ran off up the road and into the bush," he said.

"We were unable to arrest her but we are confident she will be caught.

"We believe the pair only met on New Year's Eve."

Nearby campers said the fight broke out about 1am, with police and ambulance crews attending the scene.

They said police stayed on at the campground for "about three hours" after the man was transported to hospital.

Police investigations are continuing and if anyone has further information contact Warwick Police on 4660 4444.
