Revolution GymSports athletes leaping up with aplomb

ABOUT 100 gymnasts from Revolution GymSports performed at the club's end of year display event on Sunday afternoon.

All different levels of the club were involved, from the prep aged class who performed a Christmas-themed routine right up to national acrobats Matilda Wayte and Abby Dendle.

Head coach Jenny Rowland said the gymnasts had been working on their routines for about eight weeks. "We wowed the crowd with some of our amazing tricks and stunts," she said.

The show started at 3pm. Rowland said she was astounded and delighted by the gymnasts on the day, all performing their best and smiling as the crowd appreciated their routines.

Highlights of the day included performances by the club's national acrobats and display squads.

The favourite routine of the day was Grease that had 30 gymnasts participating, including three of the coaching staff as they did a comical send-up of the renowned movie Grease. After the routines there was a visit from Santa and then an awards presentation.

Club person of the year went to Sam Harvey, coach of the year was awarded to Sharyn Dietzsch and recognition of excellence went to Tim Kington.
