Leaders share staffing ideas

THE success of the inaugural 'RPL on the Run' event hosted by CQUniversity for business and industry in the Mackay region has paved the way for a series of information-sharing events in the future.

More than 20 business leaders attended the breakfast briefing, which discussed training opportunities, how Recognition of Prior Learning can boost staff training and retention and how CQUniversity can support local business and industry.

The event was attended by a variety of business and development managers, as well as human resource professionals and others who represented industry across many sectors. Information was also provided on the Australian Government's Industry Skills Fund, which will provide up to 200,000 training places and support services over four years.

Staff training and development is vital to the growth and sustainability of many businesses, and the funding opportunity would be a significant support at a time when businesses are undergoing transition.

Interested businesses that may have missed the event are invited to contact busdev@cqu.edu.au to find out how they can be involved in the process.
