Last photos taken of fishing trawler before it went down

UPDATE 7.45am: THE trawler that went down overnight has been named as the L Margo and was skippered by 'Duck' Anderson.

Tributes for the vessel have been posted to the Facebook page Old Australian Prawn Trawler Photos.

Ron Bloxham took some of the last photos of the trawler from the Yamba wall before it's sinking.

"I remember Bluey Brailsford building this boat at Yamba,” he said.

INITIAL: A FISHING trawler now rests on the bottom of the ocean just east of the Yamba bar but the crew are safe.

Iluka/Yamba Marine Services unit commander Frank Bond confirmed that a fishing trawler went down last night at around 6pm.

"The crew are ok as another trawler took them on,” he said.
