Young players keen to meet Broncos great

RILEY Page, Max Buchanan and Chayce Ind are like most kids attending the Calliope Development Day; they are too young to really remember Petero Civoniceva's playing days.

But it isn't stopping the three Roosters players from getting excited about seeing the former Australian great on April 12.

Even though their knowledge is limited about what Civoniceva did, they know what they want to learn from the big front rower.

"He was a good tackler and that is what I want to learn from him," Chayce, 8, said.

"He is tough and I want to be like him."

Max, also 8, is a big kid for his age and plays in the forwards for Calliope.

It is a chance for him to separate his skills from other players in the same position.

"He can teach me exactly how to be a good front rower, how to hold onto the ball and run hard," Max said.

Riley is the biggest Broncos fan and can remember seeing Civoniceva's frame belting up field.

The eight-year-old has been to the development day before, but knows this time will be better than ever.

"It was fun last year and I learnt how to step properly," he said.

"I love the Broncos, I think that Petero coming is so exciting."
