Kyrgios not on discussion list for Wawrinka

IT seems the recent sledging controversy in his match against Stan Wawrinka in Montreal is set to follow young Australian Nick Kyrgios to the US Open.

Kyrgios was fined $A13,500 for a crude remark directed at the dual major champion, and took to Twitter to express his remorse.

"I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for the comments I made during the match last night vs Stan," the 20-year-old tweeted the following day.

But that clearly wasn't enough to satisfy Wawrinka, who made his thoughts known yesterday after beating 18-year-old Croatian Borna Coric in three sets in the second round of the Cincinnati Open.

"Uh no, he (Kyrgios) didn't apologise, no. But I prefer not to talk about him. Thank you," Wawrinka (pictured) said when asked whether the matter was closed.

Coric is the first teenager to win 20 tour-level matches in a season since Aussie Bernard Tomic in 2012.
