Security guard keeps peace at city nightspots
IF you recognise Hyrum Ulberg from out on the town, chances are you've seen him at one of our popular nightspots.
This week's Monday Male is a security guard for various pubs and clubs including Lightbox Espresso and Wine Bar, Dicey's and The Boardroom.
"I like the Lightbox. It's got a real nice atmosphere and most people are pretty well behaved," he said.
On a usual Saturday night in Gladstone, he said, some people misbehaved if they'd had "a few too many".
"Sometimes you get some street fights, or just people being too drunk in general," he said.
Hyrum has lived in Gladstone for the past two years.
He moved to central Queensland from Sydney for work.
He says if he's not at work, he's either sleeping or spending time with colleagues.
"I usually just hang around some of the local pubs with my work mates," he said.
"We like to come here (Lightbox)."
The security guard is also looking forward to the next local rugby league season.
"I enjoy training, I play footy for the Wallabys," he said
"I've been playing for as long as I can remember."
