Kiwis bring in six for big Anzac Test battle

MANLY'S four-try hero Peta Hiku (pictured) was one of six new faces named in coach Stephen Kearney's new-look Kiwi side yesterday to tackle Australia in Sydney on Friday night.

With several players on the sidelines injured, including Hiku's Manly teammate Kieran Foran, New Zealand selectors handed Kearney a side which features debutants Isaac John, utility Ben Henry, hooker Siliva Havili, and props Martin Taupau and Kenny Bromwich.

Kenny will join his brother Jessie in the 18-man Kiwis squad, the first set of siblings to pull on the black and white jumper since Henry and Robbie Paul in 2001.

"This team is an Anzac story in itself - a band of young men thrown together to do whatever it takes to perform for 80 minutes on Friday night. We can't wait," Kearney said.

Meanwhile, Australian coach Tim Sheens ignored some calls for Greg Inglis to be named at fullback, sticking with the Melbourne spine of Bill Slater, Cooper Cronk and Cameron Smith in his 18-man squad. The Kangaroos squad also included a set of brothers, with Brett and Josh Morris named after Broncos centre Justin Hodges was overlooked after missing the first three games of the season with an Achilles injury.

Squads: Australia: Billy Slater, Darius Boyd, Greg Inglis, Josh Morris, Brett Morris, Johnathan Thurston, Cooper Cronk, Matt Scott, Cameron Smith, James Tamou, Greg Bird, Sam Thaiday, Paul Gallen. Int: Daly Cherry-Evans, Boyd Cordner, Nate Myles, Corey Parker, Matt Gillett (18th man).

New Zealand: Gerard Beale, Adam Blair, Jesse Bromwich, Kenneath Bromwich, Greg Eastwood, Tohu Harris, Siliva Havili, Ben Henry, Peta Hiku, Isaac John, Shaun Johnson, Simon Mannering, Sam Moa, Jason Nightingale, Kevin Proctor, Martin Taupau, Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, Dean Whare.
