Kings of the diamonds

GLADSTONE'S under-15 representative boys softballers are the kings of the diamond after claiming the state championship title.
The central Queenslanders made a statement throughout the three-day tournament in Rockhampton, going through undefeated as they made amends for a second placing in 2015.
But the Gladstone boys then left their its best for the decider, as it dismantling Redlands 10-0 to complete a flawless campaign.
Their Gladstone boys' defence was a highlight, the team having conceded where it conceded just 13 runs while its batters piled on 117.
Gladstone gun Jake Gehrmann told Seven News that there were no weak links.
"The whole team contributed and there were no real standouts or anything," Jake said.
After a 9-1 triumph against Redlands in the semi-final, Redlands player Byron Humble said Gladstone got on top.
"When they scored the first couple of runs our heads just dropped and Gladstone took advantage of that," Byron said.
Meanwhile Gladstone's girls finished 11th in the same tournament.
The side consisted of seven 12-year-old girls, some who were only in their first season of the game.
