Brodie was one of the many children, teenagers and parents fishing with renowned fisherman Johnny Mitchell as part of Youth Week activities.

Brodie said he learnt a lot from spending time with the fishing king.

"Today I learnt how to cast a sea net which is pretty helpful to know," he said.

"It's good to learn something new. I really enjoyed today."

Mr Mitchell said he was happy to share some of his tips and tricks with the young anglers.

"We had around 27 kids turn up today and I taught them some basic fishing fundamentals," he said.

"It has been a really good morning, parents are out with their kids and lending them a hand."
