Kids enjoy athletics carnival

STUDENTS from Gladstone State High School went all out for their athletics carnival today.

Held at the TAFE oval, house group Damala were victorious on 1939 points, Parnka were second with 1511, Kougari came in third on 1383 and Tyalan lost on 1091.

Events included high jump, long jump, triple jump and shot-put, as well as running events.

Sports coordinator Angela Rowe said there were a number of fun novelty events.

"We encouraged students to get dressed up, participate and earn points for their house," she said.

The winners of the Gladstone Gift handicap race in the female event was Sarhan Allen (open) and the male winner was Liam Bain (13 years).
