Kids start work on mosaic wall for pool

THE first day of SUNfest kicked off on Monday with teens gathering at Creative Gladstone to be part of a piece of history.

Day one activities included the design and preparation of a mosaic wall to be erected at the Gladstone Aquatic Centre.

Promotions manager Kristel Kelly said it was great to see the children involved in a piece of public art.

"They're developing a water-themed, cartoon splash sign that will be placed between the two amenities," she said.

Ms Kelly said they were using only recycled tiles that had been saved from the pool during renovations.

SUNfest will run activities from January 5-16.

The program is available here.

Tuesday events:

  • Skateboard art
  • Cast paper weight
  • Bubble soccer
  • Indoor rock climbing and sportswall
  • Laser skirmish
