Ken O'Dowd called out over cuts to health
STATE Member for Gladstone Glenn Butcher has called out Federal Member for Flynn Ken O'Dowd over $574 million in cuts to Central Queensland Health.
Mr Butcher today called on Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Mr O'Dowd to reverse "their decision to cut $11.8 billion from Queensland public hospital funding.
"For our community, that means $574 million is being ripped out of the Central Queensland Health and Hospital Service. That will mean 40 fewer doctors and 141 fewer nurses in our community," Mr Butcher said.
"Ken O'Dowd MP needs to be upfront with the community about his support for these cuts.
"He did nothing and has said nothing since these callous cuts were first announced in their 2014 Budget.
"Ken O'Dowd MP needs to explain to our community why he thinks we deserve sub-standard healthcare," Mr Butcher said.
Mr Butcher added that the Palaszczuk Government would use the chance at COAG to "stand up for Queensland [and] demand that our hospitals receive the money they need to deliver vital frontline services."
