Hot weather settles in for at least 10 days

ASHTON Pearce loves summer because it means winding down after school with an ice-cream.

It's a passion the six-year-old shares with his mum Lisa.

"We love taking some time out together and enjoying ice-cream on a hot day," he said.

Today it's set to reach 32 degrees, and similar weather is forecast until Sunday.

Hot conditions are expected for at least another 10 days, according to Dean Marramore from the Bureau of Meteorology.

"We have a hot trough moving through the southern part of the state, and this matched with north, north-westerly winds means hot conditions until at least the end of the week," Mr Marramore said.

"Unfortunately, there is no sign of wet weather on the way with a dry pattern continuing at least for the next 10 days."

Light winds are likely to accompany the hot weather.

For now, locals will have to look to ice-cream and swimming pools to keep cool.
