Keen customers fill Lorna Jane Gladstone store on first day
LORNA Jane's Gladstone store is now open, and if the first day response from customers is anything to go by it'll do very well indeed.
Shoppers were lining up outside the Stockland store on Thursday morning, keen to be amongst the first through the door.
And the store's Facebook page has accumulated more than 1000 likes in just two days.
Second in charge Brooke Senior said staff had been busy all morning.
"One lady lined up this morning wanting to be first in the store. It's been non-stop," she said.
"We've been setting up over the past two days and rearranging the store. We've got two staff here from head office to help out."
Brooke, who has been in Gladstone for three months, thinks the store will be excellent for the city.
"It's one of the only ladies sportswear places in Gladstone. We're hoping it will do really well."
Danielle Willard, of Gladstone, was keen to check out the new store, saying it would save her having to buy Lorna Jane clothing online or in Rockhampton.
"I tend to buy things online, so it's good to have it here," she said.
"There have been comments on Facebook from everyone's husbands, saying, 'Oh no...'"
Nicole Hodder, of Boyne Island, said the store opening was the best thing to happen to Gladstone.
"Now we don't have to go to Rockhampton," Nicole said.
Lorna Jane Queensland state manager Paula McLachlan said the response so far had been amazing.
"A lot of people who usually go to Rockhampton or Bundaberg won't have to now," she said.
"We expect it will go well. We had a line-up first thing this morning of 10 or so people, which was very exciting."
Ms McLachlan said Gladstone had a lot of gyms, and there were a lot of people who shared Lorna Jane's Move Nourish Believe philosophy.
The store will have its official grand opening on Saturday with discounts and door prizes.
