Junior golf tees off

GOLF: BITS Golf Club will play host to the 2018 Junior Golf Open championships with aspiring Greg Normans or Karrie Webbs hitting the course today.

Players from Rockhampton, Yeppoon, Gracemere, Mt Morgan, Bargara and the Gladstone Region will all descend on the course.

Tournament event organiser Bill Blake said the number of nominations and players turning up would make for a good day of competition.

"There are 65 junior players turning up from around the region and that's a good showing for the competition," Blake said.

"This is the last of the junior opens for the year and the weather and rain might make for some interesting playing conditions.

"It's going to be a great event and gives the juniors the opportunity to play against opponents and see what level they are compared to others."

The first tee off is 8am and there are several categories golfers can win.
