Times Gone By: Teens injured in beach buggy rollover

1971: Five teenagers received minor injuries when the beach buggy they were riding in overturned near the main Tannum Sands beach.

The driver, 17 year old David Young, received a severe scalp cut, an injury to the arm and shock.

Ambulance men stretchered him through scrub before taking him by ambulance to Gladstone District Hospital.

Four teenage girls also received minor injuries. They were Linda Morgan, her sister, Deborah, Kay Emslie and Alison Grimes.

Some of the mini mannequins at the recent Gladstone Kindergarten fashion parade were Patrice Clifford, Robyn Jones, Paul Nielsen and Monica Lebsanft.

Held in the open air, the function attracted a record crowd, much to the delight of the committee members.

Mrs Margaret Johnston compered the parade which was held after morning tea was served.

A new voice was heard on the local radio station (4CD) recently, when Mrs Susan Beardmore made her debut into the sound waves.

Susan can be heard on Friday and Saturday nights, as well as Thursday afternoons.

Marriage: Lesley Joan, youngest daughter of Mrs LM Cuddy and the late Mr Cuddy, 4 Bramston Street, married David Richmond, second son of Mr and Mrs NR Johnston, Biloela in St Saviour's Church of England recently.

Mr and Mrs Pat Flanagan celebrated their 25th Wedding anniversary at a surprise buffet dinner held at the home of their daughter and son-in-law on Saturday night.
