AUSSIE RULES: Joy for captain Kaiden and his BITS team-mate
HE SAID he uses the don't argue tactic from his idol Richmond star Dustin Martin.
But it's not only that which has earned Kaiden Jenkins selection in the Capricornia 10 - 12 Years Boys Australian Football team that will compete in the state championships in Hervey Bay in two weeks.
Kaiden, 11, just finished training when coach Tim Deffner told him the good news.
"The training session just finished and the coach said 'well done you have been selected in the AFL Capricornia team'," Kaiden said.
The youngster is joined by fellow BITS player Jordan Jacobson and are the only two Gladstone-based to have made the side.
Kaiden starred in the recent Capricornia trials that were held in Maroombah and his ability to win his own ball was certainly recognised.
"I was stoked and I played in the midfield," Kaiden said.
"They call me ball magnet."
And it showed today when his BITS side crushed rivals Gladstone Mudcrabs by 10 goals and he booted two goals in yet another best-on-ground display.
Utility Jordan was equally as impressive in defence in the trials and he versatility will be important in Hervey Bay.
"I played pretty good and played in the backlines at fullback," Jordan said.
But on the weekend, Jordan managed to control things from centre half forward from where he kicked a goal.
The youngster idolises North Melbourne superstar Brent 'Boomer' Harvey.
