Jett Kenny signs up for a bit of salsa and sparkles

RUMOURS of Jett Kenny's latest reality TV gig are true, with Channel 10 confirming today he will compete in the new season of Dancing with the Stars.

The local ironman, surf lifesaver and part-time model is no stranger to training, but he'll be swapping a board for dancing shoes as he prepares for the series, which premieres on February 18.

Jett revealed it was his older sister Morgan, who has performed at the famous Moulin Rouge in Paris, who convinced him to go on the show.

"My sister who has danced her whole life told me to go and get basic lessons, but I saw it as more of a challenge to start from scratch," he said.

This is the latest in a string of TV appearances for Jett, who competed on Australian Ninja Warrior and stripped off for charity in the one-off special The Real Full Monty last year.

His DWTS appearance will also benefit charity. He's up against 10 other famous faces including fitness guru Michelle Bridges, actor Samuel Johnson and drag star Courtney Act, who will be the first male celebrity to be paired with a male professional dancer.

Shane Jenek will undertake rehearsals as himself but come show time will perform under his drag pseudonym.

Dancing With The Stars premieres on Monday, February 18 at 7.30pm on Ten.
