EVERYONE'S a critic - even Jennifer Lawrence.

The Oscar-winning actor revealed in a new interview that she's no fan of director Paul Thomas Anderson's latest film, the romantic period drama Phantom Thread, that's up for four awards at next week's Oscars including Best Picture and Best Director.

Lawrence told interviewer Marc Maron on his popular 'WTF' podcast that she'd barely lasted a few minutes of the film before switching it off.

"I got through about three minutes of it. I put in a good solid three. I'm sorry to anybody who loved that movie. I couldn't give that kind of time. It was three minutes and I was just [oof]," she admitted.

Set in 1950s London, the film stars actor Daniel Day-Lewis in an acclaimed performance in the role of renowned dressmaker Reynolds Woodcock as he meets the woman who soon becomes his muse and his life changes forever.

"Is it just about clothes? Is [Reynolds Woodcock] kind of like a narcissistic sociopath and he's an artist so every girl falls in love him because he makes her feel bad about herself and that's the love story? I haven't seen it, so I don't know. I've been down that road, I know what that's like, I don't need to watch that movie," said Lawrence.

A four-time Academy Award nominee who won the 2013 Best Actress award for her role in Silver Linings Playbook, Lawrence is also a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, meaning she can vote on who's awarded at the Oscars. Safe to say Phantom Thread won't be getting her vote.

For what it's worth, news.com.au's own film reviewer Wenlei Ma - who did last more than three minutes - called the film an "exquisite swan song" for Day-Lewis, who has said it will be his final acting role.

"Each movement is mesmerising" ... "[Day-Lewis] has turned in a measured, masterful performance of a flawed man who could be tender and kind, petulant and dismissive, and deeply hurtful," she wrote, awarding the film four stars.
