James enjoys a winning streak with bookies and fashionistas

FASHIONS on the field judge Desley O'Grady had a ball choosing the best dressed, with dozens of entrants.

"There was a lot of competition this season, despite a slow start to the event," Mrs O'Grady said.

"A lot of colour was on show and the children's section blew me away with more than 12 entrants."

Winner of the best-dressed male James Hughes said his white accessories must have got him the win.

"I've never won before so it must be my new white belt and shoes," he said. "Luck must be on my side today too because I never bet but I've won every race today."

Mr Hughes won a sour lolly pack and the title and was more than happy to share with his self-confessed sexy, man-in-black friend, Nathan Gee.

Not new, but still a winner, was Bev Gibbs' dress, which took out ladies fashion title.

"To tell you the truth, I bought it last year for my sister's wedding in Sydney but never ended up going so I thought 'bugger it I'm going to wear it today', and I won," she said.

Mrs O'Grady said she was impressed with the effort some had gone to.

"The lady who won best fascinator got it designed and made in Rocky and it was just beautiful," she said.
