Jake is great at two sports

JAKE GEHRMANN is seizing the moment and is relishing with his natural abilities in softball and rugby league.

The 14-year-old is the latest nomination for the Yaralla Sports Club Junior Sportsperson of the Year.

The youngster said he has focused on all aspects of his two chosen sports.

"It feels good to be nominated and I have worked so hard in the past eight years to get this," Jake said.

His softball days started when he was five years old under the guidance parents Narelle and Steve.

While he is great at both sports, Jake did hint that he may choose just the one when he is older.

"As soon as I made the Queensland representative team, I knew softball was for me," Jake said.

But don't let that fool you because Jake has recently been chosen in the under 14 Gladstone Raiders training squad for rugby league.

"I started to play league in under seven's and also played for Port Curtis rep teams at under 10, under 11 and under 12's as well," Jake said.

The Tannum Seagulls' five-eighth junior said he also enjoys the third base position and batting for his softball side Boyne-Tannum Crocs.
