Girl Friday is used to making eyes sparkle

JACQUI Doogan is used to making eyes sparkle. For three years she has operated her home business, Lashious, specialising in all things eyes.

But beauty was not always her first preference.

She said after her schooling she hoped to get into architecture.

"That didn't work out and I ended up working in a drafting office. I tried for university a second time and beauty was my second preference," she said.

Ms Doogan completed high school in Gladstone, and moved back here after spending some time in Brisbane.

"I was doing a friend's lashes (in Gladstone), she was kind of my guinea pig," she said.

"At my partner's 21st birthday I did a few more (ladies lashes) and every few months I would be back here doing it again. It ended up like an ongoing thing."

When Ms Doogan is not extending lashes or perfecting eyebrows, she said she could be at the gym.

She has competed in two bikini model competitions for fun.

"I don't do it very competitively. It's just a bit of fun," she said.

"It gives me a good reason to keep going to the gym. I like the nice, sparkly bikinis, the tan and make-up."
