New inhabitants settle into nesting boxes on GLNG site

THERE may not be many workers at the camps anymore, but a couple of new inhabitants are calling Curtis Island Santos GLNG site home now.

Santos GLNG has completed one of the largest nest box installations in Australia, with 597 boxes spanning from Injune to Curtis Island.

The boxes were installed to replace hollow trees that were removed during the construction of Santos GLNG's 420km gas pipeline.

The first round of inspections of the boxes found a few sleepy inhabitants.

Monitoring will continue to assess the success of the program.
