PUCKER up Gladdy.

Today couples around the world will share a smooch to celebrate International Kissing Day 2013.

An initiative believed to have started in a British dental surgery, the day is a fun reminder for us to indulge in the act, just for kissing's sake.

The novel day was even adopted by the United Nations organisation 20 years ago.

Gladstone lovers Jacinta Hallinan, 22, and Max Licciardello, 23, made the most of the special day at the Auckland Point lookout.

Three years after meeting, the two still remember their first kiss.

Max worked as a courtesy bus driver for a pub Jacinta visited occasionally.

One night Jacinta phoned Max to get a lift home, even though her home was outside the pub's drop-off zone.

"I walked her to her door and stole a kiss," he said.

"Well, I guess I didn't steal it because she gave me one back."
