THE birth of her first daughter was the best birthday gift Amy Wogandt has received yet.

Gracie-Lee Radloff was born on March 16, the same day Amy celebrates her birthday.

Arriving nine days early, Amy says Gracie just wanted to join them to celebrate.

Amy and her partner James Wogandt were on their way to the Raglan Tavern - when Amy's birthday dinner was interrupted before they even entered the pub. "I just got out of the car and I felt a pop and the urge to go to the toilet," she said.

"The contractions were so quick.

"They started at five minutes apart and we went to my grandmother's house in Mount Larcom, and then they just kept coming faster."

They called the ambulance, in case Gracie's arrival happened any faster.

Just after 10pm Amy and James' first daughter was born at Gladstone hospital.

"My partner was convinced she would come on my birthday. He said it was bound to happen."

The little family were able to go back to their Calliope home last Friday.

"Parenting is heart warming, it's such a different experience," she said.

"She's perfect, she's very happy, quiet and content."
