PHOTOS: Competition hots up despite chilly swimsuit shoot

IT WILL hopefully be a case of third time lucky for Toowoomba model Vanessa Coonan when she competes in tonight's national final of the Australian Swimsuit Calendar model search.

The 23-year-old and fellow Toowoomba women Stephanie Williamson and Kimberley Hartnett are among a group of models who will compete tonight and tomorrow night at Club LIV on the Gold Coast.

Miss Coonan earned her place as one of 12 models on the next Australian Swimsuit Calendar when she won the Toowoomba competition held at the Shamrock Hotel.

The calendar shoot was held in rock pools at Nobby's Beach on Monday.

"It was a little bit fresh in the water but it was great," Miss Coonan said.

The women have spent a busy week on the Gold Coast doing promotional work in the lead up to the final competition.

Miss Hartnett and Miss Williamson were given wildcard entries to the final.

Miss Coonan said she enjoyed catching up with the other models.

She said it was the third time she had made it to national finals level, but she was yet to win.

"Unfortunately, my height lets me down a little bit," she said.

"I mainly come down here for the experience."
